And so it begins… Here is the first official single, Let’s Be Honest, off of my new album, Splitting Image. The song was produced by Veterano who has done work with me on past releases. We are actually working on a few things together right now but that’s on the low-low. I’m very proud of this song and it was probably a hands down favorite among the people who have heard the album so far. The song was inspired by a quote that I read once which said ‘happiness isn’t having what you want, it’s wanting what you have.’ That’s my perspective in life on everything from family to my career. It’s not settling, but sometimes you gotta just accept that maybe it wasn’t meant for you to have what everyone else has… It’s cool to dream but not to the point where you don’t take notice of how good you have it already to just be alive. You might look at someone’s house and say “I need a place like that”. A man with a good woman might look at another woman and say “I need a woman like that in my life”. Appreciate what you have now and you’ll appreciate what comes to you later in life a lot more. I can testify to that. I had to learn that lesson myself the hard way. Here’s a little something to keep the party going…. This is a track called Blue Skies that I recorded with a Detroit-based producer named Apollo Brown. (Thanks to the homie Magestik Legend for helping us connect on some music). This song is somewhat of a breakup anthem for those people in troubled relationships or marriages. The song isn’t really about my own relationship but moreso written from the standpoint of people close to me. It’s about being with someone who seemed perfect in the beginning but somewhere down the line they just got too comfortable and became a huge disappointment in your eyes.  I think we’ve all been in situations like that where after months or years, it doesn’t feel like you know the other person anymore. Its about trying to save face and not letting the outside world know you’re have trouble at home.

This song was recorded a few weeks after I finished Splitting Image so that’s the sole reason why it isn’t included. Other than that, it would have been perfect for the album. Me and Apollo Brown are working on more music as we speak. I even included a clean version for the DJ’s.
